Perception of Time: How participants perceive the passage of time was assessed by seven items (Staudinger, Freund, Linden, & Maas, 1996): three measuring the subjective speed of time; three measuring the subjective amount of time. For each of these items there was an extra three-point scale which fit the question.
The seventh item asked participants to rank order their preferred focus on the past, present or future (see also: Future orientation). At the 5th measurement point only items 1, 3 and 6 were included in the assessment.

Literature: Smith & Baltes, 1996, 1999; Smith, Fleeson, Geiselmann, Settersen, & Kunzmann, 1996, 1999; Staudinger, Freund, Linden, & Maas, 1996, 1999.
